SUPPLY MANAGEMENT

The Supply Management Group (SMG) has been active within SSROC for more than 15 years. The Group continues to play a crucial role in regional co-operation and as a direct result of its operational activities, member councils have experienced considerable financial savings.

The SMG's primary role is Joint Regional Procurement.

The principal aim of the joint procurement program is to establish regional contracts and supply agreements for goods and services. The program has saved many milions of dollars for participating councils, and contracts and supply agreements incorporate the principles of sustainability through SSROC's Get It Green procurement policy. The total value of tenders over the past several years averages approximately $30 million per annum, over a range of 20 contracts and supply agreements for goods and services.

A major component of the Group's activities is to ensure high levels of accountability, governance and probity in its procurement activities.

Current Activities

2008 has seen a strategic review of the Group's activities. Two major projects regarding motor vehicles and telecommunications are underway, as well as initiatives in software licences and temporary staff.
