The Waste Group comprises senior staff involved in waste
activities from each council. Their area of attention relates to
the collection and transport of waste, and the implementation of
community education programs. The Group has recently developed
contracts for waste collection and transport, undertaken audits of
domestic waste and extensive community education activity, and
provided information to councils on developments in waste
activitiy.
Current Activities
The Waste Group's forward program will encompass:
- a detailed analysis of waste across the SSROC Region to inform
policy deliberations and to develop appropriate community education
programs
- an evaluation of the potential for futher operational
improvements in relation to the collection and transport of
waste
- monitoring the New South Wales Government's policies in
relation to waste, and industry's development of alternative waste
techologies.
